Muffler - Remove and Install

  1. Remove two nuts (4) , U-bolt (3) and bracket (1) that secures pipe (2) to mounting bracket (6) .

  1. Loosen band clamp (5) that secures pipe (7) to pipe (2) .

  1. Remove nut (8) from the U-bolt. Attach Tooling (A) , nylon lifting slings and a hoist to muffler assembly (9) . Install nut (8) in order to secure the tooling to the muffler.

  1. Loosen band clamp (10) that secures pipe (12) to muffler assembly (9) . Remove three bolts (11) that secure muffler assembly (9) to the mounting bracket.

  1. Use the hoist in order to remove muffler assembly (9) from pipe (7) , pipe (12) and the machine. The weight of the muffler assembly is 50 kg (110 lb) .

  1. Position the muffler assembly on cribbing or on the floor. Remove the nylon lifting sling and Tooling (A) from the muffler assembly.

  1. Loosen band clamp (14) that secures exhaust extension (13) to pipe (2) . Remove exhaust extension (13) from pipe (2) .

  1. Remove two nuts (20) , U-bolt (18) and bracket (19) that secures pipe (2) to heat shield (16) . Loosen band clamp (17) that secures pipe (2) to muffler (15) . Remove pipe (2) from muffler (15) .

  1. Attach a nylon lifting sling and a hoist to muffler (15) .

    Note: Note the orientation of access plug (22) to heat shield (16) for installation purposes.

  1. Loosen band clamp (21) that secures muffler (15) to heat shield (16) . Remove the muffler from the heat shield. The weight of the muffler is 23 kg (51 lb) .

    Note: Position access plug (22) in relation to heat shield (16) . This was noted in the disassembly procedure.

  1. Attach a nylon lifting sling and a hoist to the muffler. Install the muffler and band clamp (21) to the heat shield. The weight of the muffler is 23 kg (51 lb). Tighten band clamp (21) that secures muffler (15) to heat shield (16) . Tighten band clamp (21) to a torque of 48 ± 10 N·m (35 ± 7 lb ft) .

    Note: Position pipe (2) to muffler (15) . This was noted in the disassembly procedure.

  1. Install pipe (2) and band clamp (17) to muffler (15) . Tighten band clamp (17) to a torque of 48 ± 10 N·m (35 ± 7 lb ft) .

  1. Install two nuts (20) , U-bolt (18) and bracket (19) that secures pipe (2) to heat shield (16) . Tighten nuts (20) to a torque of 15 ± 3 N·m (11 ± 2 lb ft) .

    Note: Position exhaust extension (13) to pipe (2) . This was noted in the disassembly procedure.

  1. Install exhaust extension (13) and band clamp (14) to pipe (2) . Tighten band clamp (14) that secures exhaust extension (13) to pipe (2) . Tighten band clamp (14) to a torque of 30 ± 7 N·m (22 ± 5 lb ft) .

  1. Attach Tooling (A) to the muffler assembly in the same manner as the tooling is attached in Step 3 of the removal procedure.

  1. Use the hoist in order to install muffler assembly (9) , band clamp (5) and band clamp (10) to pipe (7) , pipe (12) , and the machine. The weight of the muffler assembly is 50 kg (110 lb) .

  1. Tighten band clamp (10) that secures pipe (12) to muffler assembly (9) . Tighten band clamp (10) to a torque of 48 ± 10 N·m (35 ± 7 lb ft). Install three bolts (11) that secure muffler assembly (9) to the mounting bracket.

  1. Remove Tooling (A) , the nylon lifting slings and the hoist from muffler assembly (9) . Install nut (8) to the U-bolt.

  1. Tighten band clamp (5) that secures pipe (7) to pipe (2) . Tighten band clamp (5) to a torque of 48 ± 10 N·m (35 ± 7 lb ft) .

  1. Install two nuts (4) , U-bolt (3) and bracket (1) that secures pipe (2) to mounting bracket (6) . Tighten nuts (4) to a torque of 15 ± 3 N·m (11 ± 2 lb ft) .
