8S-1378  Stud Remover and Resetter Tool 

  1. Verify that all of the components of the final drive are clean and free of foreign material prior to installation.

  2. Inspect all components for wear and replace the components, if necessary.

  3. Install spacer (6) and two roller bearings (5) and (7) to gear (8).

  4. Position washers (4) and (9) to gear (8). Position gear (8) to planetary carrier (2).

  5. Repeat Steps 3 and 4 for the two remaining gears.

  6. Install retaining ring (10) on planetary shaft (1). Install planetary shaft (1) to planetary carrier (2).

    Note: Be sure that the notch on the top of planetary shaft (1) is facing toward the outside edge of planetary carrier (2).

  7. Repeat Step 6 for the two remaining planetary shafts.

  8. If taperlock studs (3) were removed, use Tool (A) in order to install eight taperlock studs (3) to planetary carrier (2). Tighten taperlock studs (3) to a torque of 55 ± 7 N·m (40 ± 5 lb ft).

End By:

  1. Install the final drive. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Final Drive - Install".
