Engine Oil Cooler - Install

Usage:

D250E II 4PS

Installation Procedure

  1. Inspect all parts and clean all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new Caterpillar parts for replacement.

  1. Install O-ring seal (50) to elbow (47) . Install the O-ring seal to elbow (48) .

  1. Install two bolts (49) , elbow (48) and the O-ring seal to oil cooler (5) . Install two bolts (46) , elbow (47) and the O-ring seal to oil cooler (5) .

  1. Install three bolts (44) , bonnet (36) and the gasket to oil cooler (5) .

  1. Install two bolts (43) , pipe (15) and the gasket to oil cooler (5) .

  1. Attach a nylon lifting strap and a hoist to engine oil cooler (5) . Tilt pipe (15) upward in order to facilitate the installation of the assembly. The weight of the assembly is 25 kg (55 lb) .

  1. Install two O-ring seals (42) to the engine block. Install pipe (15) , oil cooler (5) , bonnet (36) and the gasket to the transmission oil cooler and the engine compartment.

  1. Connect hose (40) to the brake pump. Tighten nut (41) .

  1. Install bolt (39) to pipe (15) .

  1. Install two bolts (37) to bonnet (36) . Install drain plug (38) in bonnet (36) .

  1. Install six bolts (34) that secure engine oil cooler (5) to transmission oil cooler (35) .

  1. Install coolant overflow hose (31) to two hose clips (33) and relief valve (32) .

  1. Install pipe (17) to hose (30) and the engine compartment. Tighten band clamp (29) to hose (30) .

  1. Position overflow hose (31) to pipe (17) . Install reusable strap (28) to pipe (17) and coolant overflow hose (31) .

  1. Position clamp (24) on pipe (17) . Install bolt (25) and the nut that secures clamp (25) on pipe (17) .

  1. Install reusable straps (26) and (27) to pipe (17) , the ether hose and the coolant overflow hose.

  1. Tighten hose clamp (21) in order to secure pipe (17) in hose (22) .

  1. Install bolt (18) , the nut and two half clamps (20) to pipe (17) and hose (23) .

  1. Install reusable strap (19) to pipe (17) and the ether hose.

  1. Slide hose (14) onto the water pump. Tighten hose clamps (16) in order to secure hose (14) to pipe (15) and the water pump.

  1. Install bolt (12) , spacer (13) and hose clamp (11) to engine oil cooler (5) .

  1. Install the gasket to pipe (2) . Install pipe (2) to oil cooler (5) and hose (10) . Install band clamp (9) that secures pipe (2) in hose (10) .

  1. Position hydraulic hoses (8) and mounting brackets (7) to engine oil cooler (5) . Install two bolts (6) that secure mounting brackets (7) to engine oil cooler (5) .

  1. Install the gasket to hose fitting (4) . Position hose fitting (4) to the engine oil cooler. Install two bolts (3) that secure hose fitting (4) to the engine oil cooler. Install two bolts (1) that secure pipe (2) to the engine oil cooler.

End By: Install the engine oil filter and oil filter base. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Engine Oil Filter and Oil Filter Base - Remove & Install". The information is in this manual.
