Installation Procedure

1. Check all of the O-ring seals and the components for wear or damage. Replace the components, if necessary.

2. Lubricate all of the O-ring seals lightly with the lubricant that is being sealed.

3. Attach Tool (D) to Tool (A). Attach Tool (A) to a suitable hoist. Position Tool (D) in the groove on gear (13), as shown. Install gear (13) into the wheel. The weight of gear (13) is 40 kg (85 lb).

4. Apply 4C-4030 Thread Lock Compound to the threads of locking bolts (12). Install four retainers (11) and eight locking bolts (12).

5. Install thrust washer (8) and gear (9) onto the axle shaft. Use Tool (C) in order to install retaining ring (10).

6. Attach Tool (B) to Tool (A). Attach Tool (A) to a suitable hoist. Attach Tool (B) to carrier assembly (3), as shown.

7. Install O-ring seal (7) onto carrier assembly (3). Apply 1P-0808 Multipurpose Grease onto O-ring seal (7).

8. Install carrier assembly (3) and 12 bolts (4) into the wheel. Remove Tool (B) from carrier assembly (3).

9. Install the remaining 11 bolts (4). Torque bolts (11) to a torque of 430 ± 60 N·m (317 ± 44 lb ft). Install O-ring seal (5) and (6) to carrier assembly (3).

10. Install cover assembly (2) and eight full nuts (1) to carrier assembly (3).

11. Fill the final drive and the differential with oil. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU7092, "Differential and Final Drive Oil - Change".

End By:

1. Remove the front and rear wheel chocks. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, SENR1561, "Wheel Chocks (Front and Rear) - Remove and Install".
