  1. Verify that all the components of the tire and rim are clean and free of foreign material prior to installation.

  2. Inspect all components for wear and replace the components, if necessary.

    Note: The rim mounting surfaces must be free of paint and grease.

  3. Position the lift truck so that the forks are under the tire and rim assembly. Position a lifting sling around the tire and rim assembly and secure the lifting sling to the lift truck.

    ------ WARNING! ------

    Severe injury or death can occur if the inside tire and rim is removed completely from the wheel assembly before it can be fastened to the mast of the lift truck.

    To avoid injury or death from a crushing injury, secure the inside tire and rim to the lift truck before removal from the wheel assembly.


  4. Position the inner tire and rim assembly (7) to the wheel. The weight of the inner tire and rim assembly is 500 kg (1100 lb).

  5. The tire and rim assembly can also be installed by using a tire handler, as shown.

  6. Apply 4C-5593 Anti-Seize Compound to the face of the hard washers and the threads of full nuts (6).

  7. Install 12 full nuts (6) and the hard washers to tire and rim assembly (7). Tighten full nuts (6) to a torque of 1210 ± 55 N·m (900 ± 41 lb ft).

  8. Install valve stem extension (5).

  9. Position plate (3), as shown. Install four bolts (4) and the hard washers.

  10. Put 4C-5593 Anti-Seize Compound on the washer faces and the threads of the nuts that hold the outer tire and rim in position on the wheel.

    ------ WARNING! ------

    Severe injury or death can occur if the inside tire and rim is removed completely from the wheel assembly before it can be fastened to the mast of the lift truck.

    To avoid injury or death from a crushing injury, secure the inside tire and rim to the lift truck before removal from the wheel assembly.


  11. Put the forks of a lift truck in position under the outer tire and rim. Fasten the tire and rim to the mast of the lift truck. Put outer tire and rim (2) in position on the wheel. The weight of the outer tire and rim (2) is 500 kg (1100 lb).

  12. Install 12 full nuts (1) and the hard washers that hold the outer tire and rim in place. Tighten full nuts (1) to a torque of 1210 ± 55 N·m (900 ± 40 lb ft).

  13. Use Tooling (A) to lower the rear of the machine to the ground.

  14. Use Tooling (A1) to lower the rear of the machine to the ground. Refer to Tool Operating Manual, NEHS1303, "Lift Group (Stand - 25 Ton)" for more information on Tooling (A1).

  1. Remove the wheel chocks.
