Correction To Service Letter PS5571-Bevel Gear Rework

Problem:

Service Letter PS5571 has incorrect torque values within the Bevel Gear Rework Procedure.

Solution:

The correct torque values are shown below in their relevant paragraphs. The text of Service Letter PS5571 should be amended to reflect these new values.

A new Service Letter is to be released to include the changes.

Page 11, Paragraph 6:

Install pinion (6) and apply 9S-3263 Thread Sealant to ring nut (7). Refer to illustration 1. Use Torque Wrench (E) to tighten ring nut (7) to a torque of 600 to 700 N·m (443 to 516 lb ft).

Page 13, Paragraph 4:

4. Check the torque necessary to rotate the pinion as shown. As an example, if the torque reading is 1.8 N·m (16 lb in): Tighten ring nut (9) opposite the ring gear, until the torque required to rotate the pinion increases by 0.35 to 0.45 N·m (3.1 to 4 lb in). In this example, the rotating torque would be approx. 2.15 N·m (19 lb in).
