The Nuts And Bolts That Fasten The Engine Oil Filter Base To The Engine Cylinder Block May Be Loose Caterpillar

Problem:

The oil filter base (C) is fastened to the cylinder block by two bolts (1) and two nuts (2). The two nuts (2) also fasten the air compressor support bracket (B) to the cylinder block. The illustration shows the locations of the components. Some of the bolts (1) and nuts (2) have been reported loose.

Solution:

Check the tightness of bolts (1) and nuts (2) at the next opportunity. The minimum torque for these bolts and nuts is 24 N(m (18 lb ft). If any bolts (1) or nuts (2) turn with less torque, tighten all bolts (1) and nuts (2) to a torque of 44 N·m (33 lb ft).

(1) Bolts that fasten the oil filter base to the cylinder block.

(2) Nuts that fasten the oil filter base to the cylinder block.

(A) Air Compressor.

(B) Air Compressor Support Bracket.

(C) Oil Filter Base.
