PROBLEM
The existing cylinders can fail to lift the apron on certain AP500F, AP555F, AP600F, AP655F, AP1000F, and AP1055F Asphalt Pavers equipped with the straight hinge power apron design. If the existing cylinder can not lift the apron it may lead to more hand work for the paving crew and customer dissatisfaction. |

PARTS DISPOSITION
Handle the parts in accordance with your Warranty Bulletin on warranty parts handling. |
1) Lower the hopper and raise the center apron to allow access to hydraulic cylinders. 2) Turn the machine off and lock out machine to prevent it from starting. 3) Use suitable blocking to support the front apron. 4) Remove and cap the 4 hydraulic lines that go to the fittings on the apron lift cylinders. 5) Remove the 3B-4629 Cotter Pins that retain the hydraulic mounting pins. 6) Remove the mounting pins. 7) The new cylinders have a slightly larger outside diameter, so it is recommended to add a 5 mm chamfer to the front bumper at the location indicated by the arrow in the Image 1.1.1 |

8) Touch up the area where the material was removed with Yellow primer and Paint. 9) Note the orientation of the fittings in the old hydraulic cylinders. 10) Remove the fittings from the old cylinders. 11) Install the new seals in the fittings. 12) Install the fittings in the new cylinders with the same orientation. Reference Image 1.2.1 for typical fitting orientation. This is the right hand cylinder, and the view is from the center of the machine. |

13) Install the new cylinders in the paver, and use the new cotter pins to retain the mounting pins. 14) Remove the caps and install the hydraulic lines onto the fittings. 15) Remove the blocking and lockout on machine. 16) Start the machine and slowly cycle the front apron, to ensure there are no leaks and there is adequate clearance from the frame to the apron cylinders. 17) After ensuring there is no interference, cycle the apron 10 times to purge air from the system. |
