PROBLEM
Show/hide table
The existing transmission harness, if positioned incorrectly, can fail on certain 793F Off-Highway Trucks. If the existing harness fails it will cause unplanned downtime in troubleshooting and repair.
In order to allow equitable parts availability to all participating dealers, please limit your initial parts order to not exceed 32% of dealership population. This is an initial order recommendation only, and the ultimate responsibility for ordering the total number of parts needed to satisfy the program lies with the dealer.
ACTION REQUIRED
Show/hide table
Inspect the transmission harness. If the webbing has been worn through but the insulation on the wires has not been damaged, cover the affected area with electrical tape or another appropriate material and insure the harness is routed correctly, according to the images below, to prevent rubbing in the future. If the wiring has been exposed or damaged, replace the harness and reroute, paying attention to the position of the clips as noted in the attached rework procedure. Refer to Image 1 for an example of a harness that would need to be replaced.

Rework Procedure

Check Harnesses at the areas shown in Image 1.1.1. If wires have external damage, replace the entire harness with a new one. Use the images below to ensure correct clip orientation to prevent future rubs against the housing. If the harness braid has been cut through a little, with no damage to internal wire insulation, then wrap the braid with tape, or another protective material, and ensure the clips are positioned correctly to prevent future damage.
