Once the key is turned to the on position, the alternator lamp should display. If the alternator lamp does not display, the 084-4375 Bulb maybe burned out or the connection may have a discontinuity. In either case, the alternator will not charge the battery.
When the engine is started and the alternator begins charging the batteries, the light should go out. If the bulb goes out, the alternator is charging the batteries.
On RT Material Handlers, equipped with electro-hydraulic controls, if the battery is not charged by the alternator, the reduced battery voltage may prevent the hydraulic hand control (joystick) from operating.
