Hydraulically assisted attachments for the above machines can "drift" after releasing the auxiliary hydraulics switch. A brief contact with the auxiliary hydraulic switch in the opposite direction stops the drift. Attachments (including rotate carriages and grapples) that drift may have air trapped in the auxiliary attachment or related hydraulic hoses.
Removing Trapped Air From Auxiliary Attachments And Related Hydraulic Hoses
1. Operate the attachment in order to fully extend the cylinder.
Wear proper eye and body protection when working around hydraulic lines or hoses. At operating temperature the implement hydraulic oil is hot and under pressure. Hot oil can cause burns.
|
2. Open a hydraulic fitting near the attachment cylinder port that extends the cylinder. Be ready to collect expelled oil.
3. Operate the attachment to continue to extend the cylinder until the expelled oil has no entrapped air.
4. Tighten the hydraulic fitting that was opened in step 2.
5. Operate the attachment again in the extended direction in order to check for smooth activation and no drift. It may be necessary to repeat the above steps until all of the trapped air is expelled.
Wear proper eye and body protection when working around hydraulic lines or hoses. At operating temperature the implement hydraulic oil is hot and under pressure. Hot oil can cause burns.

6. Perform the same operation for the retract side of the attachment cylinder.
7. After all air has been removed from the auxiliary equipment and hydraulic lines, ensure that all fittings are secure.
