--------------- END SUPPLEMENT ---------------
Description of Change: The latest air inlet systems for these tractors use more and different support and stabilization brackets between the muffler and the air cleaner inlet tube. Also, the vertical air inlet tube assembly is isolated from the precleaner by a section of flex hose. These changes help to protect the air cleaner from forces which could result in air cleaner damage.
Adaptable To: The new components that help protect the air cleaner are adaptable to the above Challenger Agricultural Tractors. The required components are identified in the chart and Illustrations 1 and 2.

(SECTION A-A) Identification of new components required to strengthen the engine air inlet system.
Installation Procedure
1. Remove the engine air cleaner extension group components. These are all the air intake components prior to the precleaner which is mounted to the top of the air cleaner.
2. Remove the tie bracket and cap from the 6I-0152 Extension Pipe.
3. From the top of the extension pipe (the end from which the cap was removed), measure 630 mm (24.8 in) down and mark the pipe. Cut the extension pipe at the mark and discard the lower portion of the pipe (the part with the expanded/slotted end).
4. Remove the outer filter element from the air cleaner and inspect the inside of the air cleaner canister. Check for cracks in the areas where the air cleaner mounting feet are located and in the area where the precleaner pipe is fastened. If any cracks are discovered, replace the air cleaner.
5. Install the 9S-2592 Hose (3) on the precleaner inlet with a 135-6261 Clamp (2).
6. Install the shortened extension pipe (X) on the hose (3) with a clamp (2). Slip two 3P-4163 Clamps (1) over the extension pipe (X).
7. Use 144-2826 Support Assemblies for 9 inch mufflers or 144-7530 Support Assemblies for 12 inch mufflers. With the gusset of the support assembly toward the rear of the machine, slip two Support Assemblies (6) over the muffler (Y).
8. Position the support assemblies (6) vertically on the muffler (Y) as shown in Illustration 1. [Dimensions (A) and (B)]. Position the support assemblies radially to align with the clamps (1) on the extension pipe, as shown in Illustration 2. Note that the ears on clamps (1) should be on the opposite side of the support assemblies as the gussets on the support assembles. Use a 8T-0192 Bolt (4), two 5P-1075 Washers (5), and a 6V-8801 Nut (7) to loosely fasten each clamp (1) to each support assembly. Loosely install a 8T-0192 Bolt (4) and, 5P-1075 Washer (5) in each support assembly. With the support assemblies at the correct height and correctly aligned with the clamps (1), tighten the bolts (4) that fasten the support assemblies to muffler. Then tighten the bolts (4) that fasten the clamps (1) to the support assemblies (6).
9. Install the Cap on the top of the extension pipe using the clamp that was removed in Step 2.
10. Paint the new components black as needed.
