Improved Spacer Plate Provides Visual Indication Of Use Of "Wide Flange" Cylinder Liners{1221}

Usage:

Caterpillar Machines Powered By 3508, 3512, And 3516 Machine Engines

SUPPLEMENT: 07/24/95

Service Magazine; May 8, 1995; Page 20; "Improved Spacer Plate Provides Visual Indication Of Use Of 'Wide Flange' Cylinder Liners" for Caterpillar Machines Powered By 3500 Family of Engines.

Under Illustrations 1 and 2, and in the Adaptable to section of the article, the part number 110-6995 is NOT the correct number of the spacer plate. The correct part number is the 110-6994 Spacer Plate.

--------------- END SUPPLEMENT ---------------

Description of Change: The spacer plate used on the engines in these machines has been improved. A corner of the improved spacer plate has a different shape that is visible on the engine prior to disassembly. The presence of the improved spacer plate indicates an engine with "wide flange" cylinder liners.

The improved spacer plate has a single radius on the upper left corner (see Illustration 1), while the upper left corner of the earlier plate had a double radius (see Illustration 2).

Illustration 1. Improved 110-6995 Spacer Plate. Notice the upper left hand corner of the spacer plate.

Illustration 2. Earlier 110-6995 Spacer Plate. Notice the upper left hand corner of the spacer plate.

Adaptable To: The improved 110-6995 Spacer Plate is a direct replacement for the earlier spacer plate with the same part number.
