New Rod Bearings Have Higher Fatigue Strength{1219}

Usage:

Caterpillar Machines Powered By 3508, 3512, And 3516 Engines

Reference: Service Magazine: January 25, 1993; Page 1; "New Connecting Rod Bearing Used In Piston And Rod Groups".

Description of Change: New steel backed aluminum connecting rod bearings are used in the engines in these machines. The new connecting rod bearings use a new aluminum material that provides higher fatigue strength. The new connecting rod bearings will provide increased service life.

Adaptable To: The chart identifies the new and former connecting rod bearings and the various bearing sizes. The new bearings are direct replacements for the former bearings which are canceled.
