Brake Release Pump For Towing Is Available{4354}

Usage:

CB-534B (4JL) Vibratory Compactors

Reference: Operation & Maintenance Manual, KEBU6751, for CB-534B Vibratory Compactor, Page 48, Operation Section, Towing information.

Description of Change: A brake release pump is now available for CB-534B Vibratory Compactors. The new brake release pump contains a needle valve and a hand pump that are used to hydraulically release the brakes when the machine must be towed.

Adaptable To: The new 119-3680 Brake Pump Group is effective with CB-534B (4JL166-Up). The new pump is adaptable to first production when installed according to the procedure that follows. The chart lists all of the parts needed to install the new pump.

Procedure To Install Brake Release Pump

1. Drain oil from the hydraulic tank. Use a suitable container or procedure to prevent contamination to the environment.

10. Secure hose assembly (19) to the existing stack of clamps with bolts (20), plate (21) and clamps (22). See installed parts in Illustration 9.

11. Install hose assembly (17) in place of hose (S) that was removed in step 8. Connect one end of hose assembly (17) to the brake port on the front propel motor. Connect the other end of hose assembly (17) to the open port on tee (7).

12. Secure hose assembly (17) in clamp (T) where former hose (P) was fastened. Secure the remainder of hose assembly (17) in the clamps which retained hose (S).

13. Install hose assembly (16) between the open port on tee (L) and the remaining open port on the pump assembly (upper elbow (1) in Illustration 4).

Brake Release Pump Operation

Normal Operation

During normal machine operation, needle valve (W) must be in the fully open position (fully counterclockwise position).

Towing

------ WARNING! ------

Personal injury or death could result when towing a disabled machine incorrectly.

Block the machine to prevent movement before releasing the brakes. The machine can roll free if it is not blocked.

-------WARNING!-------

NOTE: Follow the recommendations below to perform the correct towing procedure.

Follow the towing instructions in the Operation and Maintenance Manual. When the instructions indicate to "manually release the parking brake", perform the following steps.

1. Turn needle valve (W) clockwise to the fully closed position.

2. Move pump knob (V) in and out (for approximately 40 seconds) until it is no longer possible to move the pump knob by hand.

3. To re-apply the parking brake, turn needle valve (W) counterclockwise to the fully open position.
