Description of Change: A new plugged filter indicator switch is now used. The new switch will replace the former switch after slight modifications are made to the electrical connections on the machine harness. The new switch is a different design with major improvements inside for increased reliability. In addition, wire leads and a two contact DT connector increases reliability of the new switch compared to the former switch which used stud and ring terminal connections.
Adaptable To: The new 116-9933 Switch Assembly is adaptable to current and former machines using the 7N-4447 Switch Assembly. Use the procedure that follows to adapt the new switch.
NOTE: The 7N-4447 Switch Assembly will no longer be serviced. Future production of current machines will use the 116-9933 Switch Assembly.
1. Disconnect and cut off the ring terminals on the machine harness that connect to the 7N-4447 Switch Assembly.
2. Attach the 102-8807 Plug Kit and two 8T-8730 Sockets to the machine harness wires. These parts can be found in the 9U-7246 Connector Service Kit. Use a 1U-5804 Crimp Tool to install the new sockets. Special Instruction, SEHS9615, has detailed instructions on servicing DT connectors.
3. Remove the old switch and install the new 116-9933 Switch Assembly.
4. Connect the newly installed connector to the 116-9933 Switch Assembly connector and secure this to the machine using a 3S-2093 Wire Tie. A 4C-5877 Tool can be used to tighten this wire tie. In some cases, a 4P-8134 Clip may be used to provide a place to tie this connector to the machine. The 4P-8134 Clip has a 10.5 mm (.413 in) diameter hole to be bolted to a machine or engine with the appropriate length bolt. The 4P-7429 Clip which has a 13.5 mm (.531 in) diameter mounting hole is also available. The 4P-8134 Clip or the 4P-7429 Clip, resembles a ladder with multiple places to tie connectors using a 3S-2093 Wire Tie or equivalent.
