Brake Head Assembly

Usage:

Remove Brake Head Assembly

start by:

a) remove tire and rim

1. Remove brake line (1) from the brake head and block.

2. Fasten tooling (A) and a hoist to brake head (2).

3. Remove the bolts and brake head (2) from the spindle assembly. The weight of the brake head is 103 lb. (47 kg).

Install Brake Head Assembly

1. Fasten tooling (A) and a hoist to brake head (1) and install it on the spindle assembly.

2. Loosen bolts (2) that hold pins (4) in place.

3. Check the distance between pins (4) and the brake disc with a feeler gauge (3). The distance must not be less than .060 ± .02 in. (1.5 ± 0.5 mm). Move the pins in or out to give the correct clearance.

4. Tighten bolts (2) that hold pins (4) in place.

5. Install brake line (5) on the brake head and the block.

6. Remove (bleed) the air from the brake system.

a) install tire and rim
