Use Correct Grade Shear Bolt For Rotor Drive{5632}
Usage:
RR-250 ( 6ED1-113 ) Road Reclaimers, SS-250 ( 6DD1-117 ) Soil Stabilizers
Parts Books, KEBP0064-01, Page 165 and KEBP0065-01, Page 209 show an incorrect part number for the shear bolt (Item 23). There is no Caterpillar part number for this bolt. The shear bolt should be a Grade 5, 1/2"-13 bolt that is 3 1/2" long.

Since this bolt is used as a shear pin, the bolt must be a Grade 5. Also, tighten the nut on the bolt just enough to leave some end play in the bolt and nut assembly. If the nut is completely tight, a driveshaft failure could result instead of a bolt failure.
