Lubricate Front Axle Every 500 Hours Or Three Months{3282,7061}

Usage:

Challenger 65 Tractors

It is now recommended that the front axle bearing on Challenger 65 Tractors be lubricated every 500 hours, or three months. Effective with PIN 7YC1042, a 3B8489 Fitting is installed in the front axle for this purpose. See illustration.

Location of added lubricant fitting.

Formerly, the bearing was lubricated at the factory and then a plug was installed in the lubricant hole. Lubrication will give longer life to the pin. A 3B8489 Fitting can be installed in earlier Challenger 65 Tractors. Use MPGM (Multipurpose-Type Grease) grease. Add this item to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU6237-01, in the 500 Hour Chart on Page 72.

NOTICE

The seals can be damaged if pneumatic or powered lubrication equipment is used. Five strokes with a manual grease gun are adequate.
