New Hydrostatic Steering Valves Available To Improve Steering Performance{4307}

Usage:

AP-1200 Asphalt Pavers

New hydrostatic steering valves can be used on AP-1200 Asphalt Pavers to improve the overall steering performance.

The parts listed in the chart can be used to modify existing AP-1200 Asphalt Pavers.

Modification Procedure

1. To start removal of the current steering valves, use a puller to remove the steering wheel from the right or left console. See Illustration 1.

2. Remove the cover tube and drive out the lower retaining pin to disconnect the steering column from the valve. See Illustration 2.

3. Identify and mark each of the four hydraulic lines ("In", "Out", "Left", "Right") and disconnect the lines from the steering valve.

4. Remove the bolts from the steering valve. Remove steering valve from the console.

5. Repeat Steps 1 through 4 to remove the steering valve from the other console.

6. Remove the right and left hand fenders to expose the opposite ends of the existing steering lines at the paver main frame. See Illustration 3.

7. Identify and mark the connections for the lines ("In", "Out", "Left", "Right"), then disconnect and remove the four lines on each side from the steering pedestals.

8. Use the template shown in Illustration 4 to add two new holes on each console mounting support to mount the new steering valves.

9. Install one 7R0197 Steering valve and one 7R0198 Column with two 0S1591 Bolts and 4B4278 Washers on each console as shown in Illustration 5.

10. Weld the new 7R0196 Channels in the position shown in Illustration 6 to each of the existing outboard channels on the paver platform. Center the new channels along the length of the existing channels. See Illustration 1 for location of existing channels.

11. Install 776610 Elbows in the "Right" and "Pressure" ports at the bottom of each new steering valve. Install first the 8T9925 Reducers, then the 308156 Elbows in the "Left" and "Tank" ports at the top of each steering valve.

12. Connect one end of the 7R0207 Hose Assemblies to the connectors at the paver main frame. Connect the other end of the hoses to the appropriate ports on the new steering valves. Connect the "In" port at the paver frame to port (P) at the valve. Connect the "out" port to port (T) at the valve. Connect the "left" port to port (L) on the valve and the "right" port to port (R) on the valve. See Illustration 5 for ports on new steering valve.

13. Use new 5E9375 Clamps to attach the hoses to the existing inboard channels near the main frame and to the new, 7R0196 Channels near the base of the steering pedestals.

14. Install the steering wheels on the new steering columns.

15. Check hydraulic oil level and test for leaks prior to installing the fenders and console panels.

16. Complete assembly of the remaining fenders and panels.
