Description of Change: New idlers, rims and hubs have been strengthened structurally to provide better durability, making them more compatible with the increased 7650 kg (17,000 lb) belt tension.
The new idler sidewall is thicker. The tube group has a thicker material cross-section near the flap to resist chaffing. An increased center section and a larger bolt circle diameter for the rim assembly help to eliminate cracking. The hub bolt hole circle is changed to match the rim assembly and bolts have taken the place of studs and nuts to mount the rims to the hubs. A reinforcing ring is used between the mounting bolts and the outer wheel to better distribute the stresses in the center of the wheel.
Also, the center pin area of the axle assembly is strengthened. The new axle is identified by comparing its 260 mm (10.2") measurement across the center pin hole with the 210 mm (8.3") measurement for the former axle assembly.
Adaptable To: The new 1R0880 Idler And Wheel Group and its new components and the new components of the 3W5061 Front Axle Group shown in the chart, except for 8R6630 Axle Assembly, are effective with 7YC970-Up. The new 8R6630 Axle Assembly is effective with 7YC1042-Up which coincides with the change to 7650 kg (17,000 lb) belt tension.
