Improved Clamps For Turbocharger Exhaust Couplings Reduce Exhaust Leaks {1052}

Usage:

3508 (95Y, 68Z),
3512 (49Y, 65Z),
3516 (71Z) Industrial;
3508 (6TJ) Locomotive;
3512 (51Y) Vehicular;
3508 (23Z, 70Z),
3512 (24Z, 67Z),
3516 (25Z, 73Z) Generator Set Engines

Description of Change: The turbocharger exhaust coupling on the above engines is installed with an improved clamp. The clamp helps ensure the exhaust coupling keeps a tight fit during engine operation, and helps reduce exhaust leaks.

Adaptable To: See the chart for adaptability of the 6L-3005 Clamp, and the 123-6979 V-Band Clamp. Couplings and supports are also shown with the models they are used on.

NOTE: A coupling change is necessary to accommodate the 6L-3005 Clamp and the 123-6979 V-Band Clamp. See the illustration. The 3508 and 3512 Engines require a change to the coupling support. Shimming of the turbocharger and/or exhaust elbow may be necessary for field rework. Some settling of the manifold and turbocharger support during operation may create the need for realignment.

NOTE: All changes can be retrofit back to first production.
