New Coolant Level Sensor Used In Water Tank Groups{7422}

Usage:

G3508 (4WD, 2JF, 9TG),
G3512 (4KC, 5JD, 7NJ),
G3516 (3RC, 8LD, 4EK) Engines

Description of Change:

Location for the new 143-8540 Coolant Level Sensor (1). (A) Former location for the coolant level sensor.

A new coolant level sensor is used in the water tank groups on these engines. The new coolant level sensor will improve reliability by preventing premature shutdowns due to coolant surges during start-up.

Adaptable To: The new 143-8540 Coolant Level Sensor is a direct replacement for the former 137-5950 Coolant Level Switch in the 120-8876, 120-8877, and 113-9480 Water Tank Groups.

Regardless of whether the engine is new or the new sensor is being installed into an existing engine, the customer must provide the wiring to connect the sensor to the their shutdown or alarm safety monitoring system.

The location of the coolant level sensor has been changed from the back of the upper water tank (location A in the illustration) to the left side of the lower water tank. The new sensor will fit directly into a boss on the side of the lower water tank. In order to install the new coolant level sensor, a new 8T-8730 Connector (socket) and a 102-8809 Plug Kit may also be required.

NOTE: The 8T-8730 Connector (socket) and a 102-8809 Plug Kit may be ordered separately, or they are available as part of the 9U-7246 Connector Service Kit. The connector service kit supplies parts of the DT series of Deutsch connectors.
