Scarifier Control

Usage:

Remove Scarifier Control

1. Lower the scarifier until the sleeve can be moved freely.

2. Remove the coupling (1) from the scarifier control.

3. Remove sleeves (3) and (4) from scarifier control.

4. Remove the bolts (2) that hold the scarifier control to the frame.

5. Fasten a hoist to scarifier control. Remove scarifier control. Weight is 300 lb. (136 kg).

Install Scarifier Control

1. Put the scarifier control in place on the machine.

2. Install the bolts (1) that fasten the scarifier to the frame. Tighten to 640 ± 80 lb.ft. (88,5 ± 11,1 kg).

3. Install the sleeves (2) and (3) on the scarifier control arms.

4. Install the coupling to the scarifier control.

Disassemble Scarifier Control

start by:

a) remove scarifier control

1. Remove oil from scarifier control. Remove the arms (3) and (5) from the control. Remove bolts (4) that hold the cover (1) on housing (2). Remove the cover.

2. Remove the two seals from the cover.

3. Remove the bolts (6) that hold the cover (7) to the housing. Remove the cover.

4. Remove the bolts (8) that hold the cap (9) to the housing. Remove the cap. Remove the follower.

5. Remove the bolts (12) that hold the cap (11) to the housing. Remove the cap. Remove nut (10) and washer from the shaft.

6. Remove worm gear (13) and worm (14) from the housing.

7. Remove the bolts (16) that hold the two housings together. Remove the housing.

8. Remove shaft (15) from housing.

9. Remove the bearing from the housing, with tool setup (A).

10. Pull worm (17), worm gear (19) and shaft assembly (18) from housing. Remove bearing cones from worm.

11. Remove bearing cone (20) from housing.

12. Remove bearing (21) and pin (22) from housing.

13. Remove shaft assembly from housing.

14. Remove nuts (23) that hold gear to the shaft. Remove the gear.

15. Remove bearing cup (24), seal (26) and bushing (25) from the housing outer end.

Assemble Scarifier Control

1. Install bushing in outer end of housing. Install bearing cup in housing. Install seal in housing with tool setup (A). The lip of seal must be toward the worm gear.

2. Install gear (1) on shaft assembly (2). Install washers and nuts (3) on bolts.

3. Slide shaft assembly part way in housing.


NOTICE

Do not cause damage to seal when installing the shaft.


4. Install pin (5) and bearing (4) in housing. The pin keeps the bearing from turning in the housing. Make sure the slot in the bearing is in alignment with the pin.

5. Install bearing cone (6) in housing.

6. Install worm gear and shaft assembly and worm (7) in housing.

7. Install worm shaft (8) through housing and worm gear.

8. Install seal in housing with tool setup (B). The lip of seal must be toward worm.

9. Install bearing in housing with tool setup (C).

10. Install housing (9) on shaft. Install bolts that hold housing to control housing for scarifier.

11. Install worm (11) and worm gear (10) at the same time.

12. Install cap (12) and bolts that fasten cap to the housing.

13. Install washer and nut (13) on shaft.

14. Install follower and cap on housing.

15. Install bolts that hold cap on the housing. Make the adjustment in the following way:

a) Turn the adjustment screw clockwise to remove any end clearance.

b) Tighten locknut.

16. Install seal in cover (14) with tool setup (D).

17. Install bearing in cover with tool setup (E).

18. Install cover on shaft. Install bolts that fasten cover to housing.

19. Install arm to shaft.
