Circle Centershift Housing

Usage:

Remove Circle Centershift Housing

1. Remove the oil from the housing.

2. Remove the nut that holds joint (1) on the shaft. Remove the joint and key.

3. Remove nuts (3) from the bolts on the bottom of housing that hold it to the rail.

4. Remove nuts (2) from four bolts that hold housing to the frame. Remove the bolts, plates, washers and shims. Put identification on the shims for correct assembly.

5. Remove the housing from the two bottom bolts. Weight is 65 lb. (29,5 kg).

Install Circle Centershift Housing

1. Put the housing on the two bottom bolts. Push the housing back on the rail.

2. Install the bolts, plates, washers, shims and nuts.

3. Make the adjustment of the backlash between drive pinion (1) and rack (2) to .002 to .010 in. (0,05 to 0,25 mm).

4. Install the key on the shaft. Connect the joint to the shaft. Install the washer and nut.

5. Fill the housing with oil. See LUBRICATION AND MAINTENANCE GUIDE.

Disassemble Circle Centershift Housing

start by:

a) remove circle centershift housing

1. Remove cotter pin and nut (2). Remove bolts (1) and (4) that hold cover (5) on the housing.

2. Remove sleeve (3). Remove bolts (6) that hold the cap.

3. Remove cap (11). Remove the cotter pin and nut (9). Use a plastic hammer to remove the shaft (10) and seal from the housing.

4. Remove the keys from the shaft. Remove the sleeve and bushings from the housing.

5. Remove worm (8) and thrust washers from the housing.

6. Remove pinion (7) from the gear with a plastic hammer. Remove key from the pinion.

7. Remove the bushing and seal from the housing.

Assemble Circle Centershift Housing

1. Install bushing and seal in the housing. Install seal with lip toward the gear.

2. Install the pinion (1) in the housing. Install key on pinion.

3. Install bushings (2) for the worm shaft in the housing.

4. Install the gear on the pinion.

5. Install thrust washers (6) and (8) and the worm (5).

6. Install the keys and seal (3) on the shaft (4). Install the shaft in the housing and through the worm. Install sleeve (7).

7. Install the nut and cotter pin on the end of the shaft. Install the cap on the end of the shaft.

8. Push the seal (3) on the shaft in the housing. Install the sleeve (10) on the pinion (11).

9. Install the cover (9) on the housing. Install the nut and cotter pin on the pinion.
