Power Control

Usage:

Remove Power Control

start by:

a) remove hydraulic pump

b) remove power control drive shaft

c) remove blade sideshift control

1. Remove oil from the power control.

2. Remove nut and bolt from collar (2) and bolt from bracket (3) that holds steering shaft. Remove steering wheel and shaft (1).

3. Remove three bolts that hold bracket (3) to power control.

4. Remove four shafts (4) from power control.

5. Install two 3/8"-16NC forged eyebolts. Fasten a hoist to the eyebolts.

6. Remove bolts (5) and (6) from the housings for the blade lift. Remove bolts (7) that hold power control to the platform.

7. Remove the two bolts and nuts that hold the drive end of the power control to the platform.

8. Remove the power control from the machine. Weight is 305 lb. (138,4 kg).

Install Power Control

1. Put the power control into place on the machine. Make sure the washers for the blade lift are in position.

2. Install the bolts and nuts that hold the drive end of the power control to the platform.

3. Install the bolts (2) that hold the power control to the platform.

4. Install eight bolts (1) and (3) in the two blade lift housings.

5. Install the four shafts (4) to the power control.

6. Install bracket that holds steering shaft. Install steering wheel and shaft.

7. Fill the power control with oil. See LUBRICATION AND MAINTENANCE GUIDE.

a) install blade sideshift control

b) install power control drive shaft

c) install hydraulic pump

Disassemble Power Control

start by:

a) remove power control

NOTE: Power control can also be disassembled on the machine.

1. Remove the six levers (1).

2. Remove the cover (2).

3. Remove the two gears (3) on the left side. Remove the three gears on the right side. Remove the third gear (4) from the left side last.

4. Remove the six clutch shaft assemblies (5).

5. Remove output shafts (6), transfer gears and washers.

6. Remove the seals for the output shafts. Remove the bushings for the output shafts with tool setup (A).

7. Remove plugs (7) over the bushings in the cover. Remove the bushings with tool setup (A). Remove seals (8) for the clutch shafts from the cover.

8. Remove the bushings from the transfer gears with tool setup (A).

9. Remove cartridge assemblies (9), clutch (11) and plate assembly (10) from the clutch shaft of the controls for the blade lifts.

10. Remove springs (12), forks (13) and clutches from the shafts for the other controls.

11. Remove column housing (16) from the clutch housing.

12. Remove the nut and lock from the bevel gear (17). Remove the bevel gear with tool (B).

13. Remove the brace (14) and cover (15). Put identification on cover bolts for correct installation.

14. Remove the cotter pin and nut that holds the worm gear (18) on the shaft. Remove the worm gear.

15. Pull the shaft (22) up and remove the couplings (20) and (21). Remove the shaft. Remove the yoke (19).

16. Remove the cage assemblies (23) and (25) from both sides of the worm shaft. Remove the worm (27). Remove bearing cones (26) from the worm. Remove the bearing cups from both cages. Remove the seal from cage (25).

17. Remove bottom bushing (24) and the upper bushing with tool setup (C).

18. Remove the lip type seal from the column housing.

Assemble Power Control

1. Install the lip-type seal and bushing in the column housing. Install the seal with the lip up.

2. Install the bearing cones on worm (4).

3. Install the bearing cups in cages (2) and (3) with tool setup (D).

4. Use tool setup (E) to install the seal in cage (3) with lips of seal to the inside. Put lubricant on the lips of the seals.

5. Install the worm and cage assemblies in the column housing.

6. Check the end play of the worm. Use shims (1) as necessary to get a clearance of .005 ± .002 in. (0,13 ± 0,05 mm).

7. Install yoke (5) on the worm.

8. Install the shaft in the column housing through the bottom. Install the couplings and pull the shaft back to the bottom.

9. Install worm gear (6), nut and cotter pin.

10. Install the bevel gear on the shaft. Install the lock and nut holding the gear on the shaft. Tighten the nut to a torque of 90 ± 10 lb.ft. (12,4 ± 1,4 mkg).

11. Install the cover and brace on bottom of the column housing.


NOTICE

Be sure the bolts are installed in the same location as before.


12. Put the column housing in position on the clutch housing and install the bolts (7).

13. Install the bushings in the clutch housing with tool setup (A). Install bushings in the housing so the grooves connect at the bottom.

14. Install the seals for the output shafts in the housing with tool setup (B). Put lubricant on the lip of the seals.

15. Install the bushings in the transfer gears with tool setup (A).

16. Install the thrust washers, gears, washers and output shafts.

17. The third gear (8) from the left must be installed last.

18. Install the forks (10), springs (12) and clutches (9) on the shafts (11).

19. Install cartridge assemblies (13) and (15) on the clutch shafts for the blade lift. Install the clutch (14) and plate assembly.

20. Install the clutch shaft (16), angle-cut washer, gear and thrust washer.

NOTE: The setscrews (17) are installed into the flat on the clutch shaft. The setscrew acts as a stop to keep one collar from following when the other collar is shifted to the clutch engaged position. Use 8H5137 Form-a-Gasket Cement on the threads of the setscrews before installing them in the clutch housing.

21. Install the other clutch assemblies, angle-cut washers, gears and thrust washers.

22. Install the plugs (20) in the cover. Install the bushings with tool setup (A), so the grooves connect at the bottom.

23. Use tool setup (A) to install the seals (18) in cover with the lips of seal toward the inside. Put lubricant on the lips of the seals.

24. Install the cover (19).

25. Install the six levers.
