New Spark Plug Tightening Specifications For Engines With Canadian Standards Association (CSA) Ignitions {1550}

G3412 (7DB) Engines

Description of Change: Engines with CSA ignitions have special tightening instructions for the spark plug and transformer. The procedure in the "Instructions" section provides the tightening specifications.

Adaptable To: The new procedure is used on 4P-2563 and 4P-9474 Gas Ignition Groups. These groups use a 4W-2256 Plug and a 9Y-4167 Transformer Assembly.

Instructions

Bolt to hold clip to valve cover base (1). 9Y-4167 Transformer Assembly (2). 4W-2256 Plug (3).

1. Set gap on spark plug (3) to 0.38 mm (.015 in).

2. Install the spark plug and tighten to a torque of 30 ± 4 N·m (22 ± 3 lb ft)

3. Screw transformer assemblies (2) onto spark plugs (3). Tighten the transformer assemblies 1/8turn past finger tight.

NOTE: Tighten bolt (1) to 15 ± 5 N·m (11 ± 4 lb ft).
