Axial Clearances of Front Pins Are Now Improved on Certain 320, 320 GCand 323 Excavators {5057, 6501, 6502} Caterpillar

Axial Clearances of Front Pins Are Now Improved on Certain 320, 320 GCand 323 Excavators {5057, 6501, 6502}

Usage:

320 GC DKJ
Excavator
320 (S/N: YCP1-215; HEX1-11025)
320 GC (S/N: DKJ1-10730; XBJ1-235; KTN1-10244)
323 (S/N: RAZ1-10488)

Reference: Special Instruction , M0099083 , "Rework Procedure for Appropriate Clearance of the Front Pins on Certain 320, 320 GC, and 323 Excavators"

Reference: Special Instruction , M0099625 , "Rework Procedure of Boom Nose on Certain 320, 320 GC, and 323 Excavators"

Description Of Change: Axial clearances of the front pins (PT1-7, PT9, and PT12) are reduced by appropriate application of the shims on the machines listed above. The improved boom assembly suppresses the angled gap at PT4 brackets by adding machining to the inner surface of the PT4 brackets.

Adaptable To: The following changes are adaptable to the products within the listed serial numbers, and are effective with all products after the listed serial numbers.

In the improved boom assembly, spacers are machined and welded on the inner surface of the PT4 bracket. Refer to Illustration 2.

For reducing the axial clearance of the front pins on the existing machines (listed above), refer to Special Instruction , M0099083.

For reducing the angled gap at PT4 brackets on the existing machines (listed above), refer to Special Instruction , M0099625.

If replacing the existing boom assembly with the new part number (566-0958, 566-0952, or 566-0955), replace the other existing parts at the same time. Refer to Table 1.
