Fuel Tank - Remove and Install

Usage:

140 N94

Removal Procedure

------ WARNING! ------

Personal injury or death may result from failure to adhere to the following procedures.

Fuel leaked or spilled onto hot surfaces or electrical components can cause a fire.

Clean up all leaked or spilled fuel. Do not smoke while working on the fuel system.

Turn the disconnect switch OFF or disconnect the battery when changing fuel filters.



NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, PERJ1017, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.


  1. Evacuate the fuel tanks.

    Note: Left Side Fuel Tank

  2. Remove door panel assemblies (1) and (2). Repeat for the other side.

  3. Disconnect hose assembly (3).

  4. Remove bolt (4). Disconnect harness assembly (5).

  5. Remove 3 bolts (6) and 3 bolts (7). Remove plate (8).

  6. Disconnect hose assembly (9) and position out of the way. Remove cable strap (11). Disconnect harness assembly (10) and position out of the way.

  7. Release coupling (12) and disconnect hose assembly (15). Loosen clamp (14) and disconnect hose (13).

  8. Release coupling (16) and disconnect hose assembly (17).

  9. Remove bolts (19) and (20) from left side fuel tank (18).

  10. Remove bolt (21). Slide left side fuel tank (18) away from the machine slowly while ensuring that coupling (12) has been fully disengaged.

  11. Use two people to remove left side fuel tank (18). The weight of left side fuel tank (18) is approximately 27 kg (60 lb).

    Note: Right Side Fuel Tank

  12. Remove P-clip (23) and position cable assembly (22) out of the way.

  13. Release coupling (25) and disconnect hose assembly (24).

  14. Remove bolt (26).

  15. Remove bolts (27) and (28).

  16. Use two people to remove right side fuel tank (29). The weight of right side fuel tank (29) is approximately 27 kg (60 lb).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install fuel tanks (18) and (29) in the reverse order of removal.
