Applied Failure Analysis and Reuse & Salvage Publications Have Been Updated to Aid in Identifying Cause of Liner Cuff Cracking Certain C175 Generator Set Engines {1000, 1216}

Description Of Change: Failure Analysis has been updated to include more possible failure modes caused by poor maintenance practices and poor performing injectors. Internal injector damage, due to low-pressure fuel systems issues, cause high temperatures, cylinder to cylinder temperature variation, and abnormal fueling events resulting in cracked liner cuffs.

Adaptable To: To help improve maintenance practice, it is recommended to: change injectors, clean air manifolds, and clean the aftercooler core. Replace poor performing injector to reduce cylinder to cylinder temperature variation. Set exhaust temperature differential limits to warn the customer of issue ( 85° C (185° F) warning, 120° C (248° F) shutdown). Activate the high exhaust temperature warning/shutdown ( 525° C (977° F) warning, 565° C (1049° F) shutdown) based on specific sites operating conditions. Other locations and sites should evaluate there conditions and tune warnings and shutdowns to fit there specific requirements and operating conditions. If the liner cuff cracks, replace with 381-3969 Sleeve.
