Aftercooler - Disassemble

Usage:

G3512 E26

Disassembly Procedure

Start By:

  1. Remove the aftercooler. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Aftercooler - Remove".

Note: Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.


NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

  1. Remove 29 bolts (2) to remove housing (1).

  2. Attach a suitable lifting device to housing (4). Housing (4) weighs approximately 26.1 kg (7.6 lb.).

  3. Remove 27 bolts (3) to remove housing (4).

  4. Remove 23 bolts (6) on top and sides of after cooler to remove the top of the housing (5). Leave the bottom plates in tact.

  5. Inspect core for damage or blockage by foreign matter.
