Gear Group (Rear) - Remove and Install

Start By:

  1. Remove flywheel housing.


NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.


Note: The engine must be put in time before the flywheel housing is removed. This is done to make sure that the rear gear group is in alignment with the rotation of the engine, as shown.

  1. Remove bolts (3), plate (2), and idler gear (1).

  1. Use Tooling (A) and a suitable press to remove bearing (4).

  2. Remove bolts (6), bolts (7), and idler gears (5).

  3. Remove washers (8) and idler shaft (9).

  4. Remove bolts (10) and cluster gear shaft (11).

  5. Remove bolts (13) and crank gear (12).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the gear group (rear) in the reverse order of removal.

    1. Tighten bolts (10) to a torque of 140 ± 10 N·m (103 ± 7 lb ft).

    2. Tighten bolts (7) and bolts (6) to a torque of 240 ± 20 N·m (177 ± 15 lb ft).
