Gambar di atas menunjukkan lokasi umum sensor untuk Engine Kapal Laut C9. Engine tertentu dapat berbeda dari yang ditunjukkan pada gambar.

Kegagalan Sensor

Semua Sensor

Kegagalan salah satu sensor dapat disebabkan oleh salah satu kegagalan fungsi berikut:

  • Output sensor terbuka.

  • Output sensor mengalami hubung singkat ke "- baterai" atau "+ baterai".

  • Pembacaan terukur sensor di luar spesifikasi.

Sensor Kecepatan/Pewaktuan Engine

Jika ECM tidak menerima sinyal dari sensor timing/kecepatan primer, lampu "DIAGNOSTIK" akan menunjukkan kode kerusakan diagnostik. Kode kerusakan diagnostik ini akan dicatat dalam memori ECM.

Jika ECM tidak menerima sinyal dari sensor kecepatan/pewaktuan primer, ECM akan membaca sinyal dari sensor kecepatan/pewaktuan sekunder. ECM akan terus-menerus melakukan pemeriksaan untuk menentukan apakah ada sinyal dari kedua sensor (7). Jika salah satu sensor gagal, sensor yang rusak harus diganti.

Kegagalan intermiten sensor akan menyebabkan kontrol engine yang tidak menentu.

Sensor Temperatur Cairan Pendingin

Sensor temperatur cairan pendingin (4) memonitor temperatur cairan pendingin engine. Fitur ini digunakan untuk diagnostik sistem engine dengan output dari ECM. Output ECM dapat mengindikasikan temperatur cairan pendingin tinggi melalui relai atau lampu.

Kegagalan Sensor Temperatur Cairan Pendingin

ECM akan mendeteksi kegagalan sensor temperatur cairan pendingin. Lampu diagnostik akan memberikan peringatan kepada operator tentang status sensor temperatur cairan pendingin. Strategi yang terkait dengan sensor temperatur cairan pendingin akan dinonaktifkan jika terjadi kegagalan. Kegagalan sensor temperatur cairan pendingin tidak akan menyebabkan shutdown engine atau perubahan horsepower.
