Product Identification Number
Frá og með fyrsta ársfjórðungi 2001 breyttist auðkennisnúmerið (PIN) úr 8 í 17 stafi. Til að veita einkvæmt tækjakenni eru framleiðendur vinnuvéla að gera ráðstafanir til að hlíta nýjustu útgáfu af talnastaðli vöruauðkenna. Auðkennisnúmer vinnuvéla til notkunar utan vega eru skilgreind í ISO 10261. Nýja PIN-sniðið mun eiga við um allar vélar og rafalssett. PIN-plöturnar og merkingar á grind munu sýna 17 stafa PIN-númer. Nýja sniðið mun líta út á eftirfarandi hátt:

Vélar og rafalssett sem voru framleidd fyrir fyrsta ársfjórðung 2001 munu halda 8 stafa PIN-sniði sínu.
Íhlutir eins og vélar, gírkassar, öxlar o.s.frv. og verkfæri munu áfram nota 8 stafa raðnúmer.
