Engine Oil Filter Housing - Remove and Install

Removal Procedure

Start By:

  1. Remove fuel filter housing.


NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.



NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

  1. Remove bolts (1).

  2. Remove bolts (2).

  3. Remove bolts (5), guard assembly (4), and guard assembly (6).

  4. Remove bolts (7) and guard assembly (8).

  5. Remove bolts (9) and plate (10).

  6. Disconnect harness assemblies (11). Remove pressure sensor (12) and pressure sensor (13).

  7. Remove bolts (14) and plates (15).

  8. Disconnect coupling assembly (17), coupling assembly (19), tube assembly (16), and tube assembly (18).

  9. Remove bolt (21) and clamps (22). Disconnect tube assembly (20).

  10. Remove bolts (23) and regulator housing (24).

  11. Use a suitable lifting device to remove engine oil filter housing (25). The weight of engine oil filter housing (25) is approximately 55 kg (121 lb).

  12. Remove bolts (26) and engine oil filter housing (25).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install engine oil filter housing (25) in the reverse order of removal.

    1. Tighten bolts (14) to a torque of 135 ± 20 N·m (100 ± 15 lb ft).

    2. Tighten pressure sensor (13) and pressure sensor (12) to a torque of 10 ± 2 N·m (86 ± 180 lb in).
