Usage:
3176 (2YG, 7LG),
3176B (9CK) Truck Engines;
C-10 (2PN, 8YS),
C-12 (1YN, 9NS) Truck Engines;
3406E (5EK, 5DS, 6TS, 1LW) Truck Engines
These truck engines are equipped with EUIs. DO NOT interchange the electrical stator between EUIs. If the engine had a miss, a dead cylinder, or a fault code that indicated an injector had failed, in some cases technicians have tried to fix or identify the problem by taking out the four bolts that fasten the stator to the injector and moving the stator to another injector.
DO NOT interchange the electrical stator between EUIs. Changing the stator changes the timing and discharge unique to this assembly. This can result in a different injector setting and significantly change the performance of the engine. Each stator is assembled and tested on the injector as an assembly and CANNOT be swapped without again testing the unit injector on a factory test bench.
Caterpillar recommends using the procedures identified in the applicable Troubleshooting Guide to fix or identify EUI problems. Rely of the fault codes and/or cut out procedures to identify a faulty EUI.
