Customer ET should be offered to any customer that wants the ability to access engine information and customer parameters for customers NOT authorized by Caterpillar to perform electronic repairs requiring factory passwords of flash programming.

Customer Cat ET Order Number:

All Caterpillar ET subscriptions are on the same CD. Licensing your copy of ET occurs when you are assigned your subscription type. To order ET for your Customers, please order the following:

ET CD-ROM: JEBD3003, Electronic Technician Software, User's Manual and Getting Started Book

Once the program is installed on your customers's computer, follow the instructions on the screen to obtain a program license. The license process can only be completed by a Full Service Caterpillar Dealer. After the license process is completed, the dealership will be billed by Caterpillar Medial Logistics for a program license and a subscription. (See the number below.)

ET Program License: JERD2124, ET Program License

Subscriptions:

NEXG5007, Full service Customer Cat ET (All Engine and Machine Information)

-or-

NEXG5009, TEPS Customer Cat ET (Truck Engine Only Information)

NOTE: Customers must purchase the ET program license and selected subscription from their Caterpillar Dealer.

NOTE: A purchase Order Number is required.

Sufficient security and safeguards are in place in the customer version of the Cat ET Program which reserve specific applications to ONLY Dealers:

* No access to factory password controlled functions.
* No versions of Customer ET have the ability to FLASH the Electronic Control Module (ECM).

The Customer version of ET will provide equipment owners with important information they can use to improve the operation and maintenance of the equipment.

Changing from a full version subscription to customer subscription:

1. Install ET Version 2.2 on your customer's computer.
2. Call the PC Doctor at 1-800-843-7237 and tell them you wish to transfer your customer's license to the new customer version.
3. They will then walk you through the license transfer process, which is very similar to the license process.

Additional Information

Flash Files and Training Info - A "Dealer Additions" CD contains the sensitive Flash files and training material. The training information is in pdf format and Acrobat reader is provided on the CD.

Help Files - Customer and Dealer versions of ET have different Help files since the Customer version does not have access to Flash files or factory password applications. The correct file is assigned at licensing.

Getting Started - There is on Getting Started Guide. No references are made to dealer version exclusive information in this manual. The ET CD is still located in the inside cover of the manual.

Manuals - There are separate manuals for the customer and dealer versions. Only the dealer manual has information of flashing and factory passwords.

Dealer Additions/Users Manual - This provides information of flashing and includes Service Training developed training material. The Dealer Additions CD is inside the manual cover. All full service Cat Dealers will get this CD and booklet with their update.

ET Trainer - A trainer will be provided with ET Version 2.2. This simulates the major diagnostic features of the 777 Off-Highway Truck. ET Trainer allows training and practice with ET without a Communications Adapter or Electronic Control Module. This is a free feature that does not require authorization. However, FLASH and factory password training capability is only available to licensed full service Cat Dealers. A trainer version for on-highway truck engines will be available in the next ET version in September.
