A New and Improved Switch and Contactor Are Used for the Jacket Water Heater Control on Certain 3512C Engines {1383, 1408, 1408}

Usage:

3512C NJT
Engine:
3512C (S/N: NJT1-UP)

Description of Change: The new switch and contactor are built with a stronger material.

Adaptable To: The new 430-2782 Switch and the 430-2783 Contactor replace the former 397-8118 Switch and the 397-8119 Contactor on the engines listed above.

The new 430-2782 Switch and the 430-2783 Contactor are adaptable to the above engines back to first production.

This change is effective with serial number NJT00232.

The new parts and former parts are listed in Table 1.

    (1) 397-8118 Switch

    (2) Switch retaining ring

    (3) Release lever

    (4) 397-8119 Contactor

  1. Press release lever (3) and remove contactor (4) from switch (1) .

  1. Remove switch retaining ring (2) from switch (1) .

  1. Remove switch (1) from the electric panel.

  1. Orient switch locking mechanism (5) as shown in Illustration 3.

    (9) Alignment tab

  1. Rotate locking screw (7) counter clockwise with screwdriver (6) until locking tab (8) lines up with alignment tab (9) .

  1. Install switch (10) into the electrical panel.

  1. Install switch locking mechanism (5) onto switch (10) .

  1. Tighten locking screw (7) to secure switch locking mechanism (5) to switch (10) .

    (12) Wire "SW1-5:4"

    (13) Wire "SW1-5:3"

  1. Attach contactor (11) to switch locking mechanism (5). Refer to Illustration 6 for the correct orientation of the contactor.

  1. Attach two wires "SW1-5:4" (12) to contactor (11). Refer to Illustration 6 for the correct wire location.

  1. Attach one wire "SW1-5:3" (13) to contactor (11). Refer to Illustration 6 for the correct wire location.

  1. Attach one wire "SW1-2:3" (14) to contactor (11). Refer to Illustration 7 for the correct wire location.

  1. Attach one wire "SW1-2:4" (15) to contactor (11). Refer to Illustration 7 for the correct wire location.

  1. Attach one wire "SW1-1:3" (16) to contactor (11). Refer to Illustration 8 for the correct wire location.

  1. Attach one wire "SW1-1:4" (17) to contactor (11). Refer to Illustration 8 for the correct wire location.

  1. Attach two wires "SW1-4:3" (18) to contactor (11). Refer to Illustration 8 for the correct wire location.

  1. Attach one wire "SW1-4:4" (19) to contactor (11). Refer to Illustration 8 for the correct wire location.
