NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.


  1. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant (ELC) - Change" for the correct draining and filling procedures.

  1. Loosen clamps (4) and remove tube assembly (1) .

  1. Loosen clamp (3) and disconnect hose (2) .

  1. Remove bolts (5) and temperature regulator housing (6) .

  1. Remove water temperature regulator (7) and seal (9) from temperature regulator housing (6) .

  1. Clean any lubricant from bore (8) .

    Note: Note the orientation of the lip seals for installation purposes.

  1. Remove lip seals (10) .

Installation Procedure

  1. Install water temperature regulator (7) in the reverse order of removal.

    1. Apply a thin layer of Tooling (A) to lip seal (10) and to bore (8) .
