Water Pump - Remove and Install

NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant (ELC) - Change" for the correct draining and filling procedures.

Remove bolts (1) and remove belt tensioner assembly (2).

Remove nuts (5).
Loosen nuts (6).
Remove bolts (4) and remove plate assembly (2).

Loosen clamp (9).
Remove bolts (7) and remove elbow (8) from hose (10).

Loosen clamp (11).
Remove bolts (13), elbow (12), and the hose.

Remove bolt (15).
Reposition bracket (14) and the hose out of the way.

Remove bolts (17) and water pump (16).

Remove O-ring seal (17) from water pump (16).

Remove seal (20).
Remove bolts (19) and inlet cover (18).

Remove O-ring seal (21) from inlet cover (18).

Install water pump (16) in the reverse order of removal.
1. Apply Tooling (A) to all the O-rings seals in the installation procedure.
2. Tighten clamp (11) to a torque of 14 ± 1 N·m (124 ± 9 lb in).
