Vibration Damper and Pulley - Remove and Install

Start By:

  1. Remove the fan.


NOTICE

Thoroughly inspect the viscous damper for signs of leakage or for signs of a dented (damaged) case. Either of these conditions can cause the weight to make contact with the case. This can affect the viscous damper's operation.

  1. Loosen nut (1) and bolt (2).

  2. Turn bolt (2) counterclockwise in order to loosen belts (3).

  3. Remove belts (3) from the damper pulley.

  4. Remove one of bolts (6) and install Tooling (A).

  5. Use two people to remove vibration damper (4). The weight of vibration damper (4) is approximately 35 kg (77 lb).

  6. Remove remaining bolts (6). Remove pulley (5).

  7. Remove vibration damper (4).

  8. Remove Tooling (A) from the crankshaft.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install vibration damper (4) and pulley (5) in the reverse order of removal.

    1. Apply Tooling (B) to bolts (6).
