Fuel Filter Housings - Remove

Usage:

C280-16 ENS

Removal Procedure

Start By:

  1. Remove the fuel filter elements. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Fuel Filters - Remove and Install".


    NOTICE

    Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

    Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.

    Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.



    NOTICE

    Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

    Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.


  1. Drain the coolant from the cooling system into a suitable container for storage or disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant - Change".

  2. Disconnect tube assembly (1) and tube assembly (2).

  3. Attach a suitable lifting device to fuel filter housing (4). Fuel filter housing (4) weighs approximately 75 kg (165 lb).

  4. Remove bolts (3) and fuel filter housing (4).
