Removal Procedure

Start By:

1. Remove the temperature control valve. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Water Temperature Control Valve - Remove".

NOTICE
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

1. Drain the oil from the engine oil filter housing into a suitable container for storage or for disposal.

2. Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device onto engine oil filter housing (6). The weight of engine oil filter housing (6) is approximately 104 kg (230 lb). Remove bolts (5). Remove breather (1) on each side. Remove bolts (4). Disconnect tube assembly (3). Remove bolts (2).

3. Remove bolts (8). Disconnect tube assembly (9). Remove bolts (7) and remove engine oil filter housing (6).

Installation Procedure

1. Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device onto engine oil filter housing (6). The weight of engine oil filter housing (6) is approximately 104 kg (230 lb). Position engine oil filter housing (6) onto the engine. Install bolts (7). Position tube assembly (9). Install bolts (8).

2. Install bolts (2) in engine oil filter housing (6). Position breather (1) on each side and install bolts (5) on each side. Position tube assembly (3) and install bolts (4).

3. Check the engine oil level. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Engine Oil Level - Check".

1. Install the temperature control valve. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Water Temperature Control Valve - Install".
