Exhaust Manifold - Remove and Install

Start By:

  1. Remove the turbocharger.

  2. Remove the expansion tank (jacket water).

  1. Remove brackets (1) and studs (2).

  2. Remove elbow (3). Discard the gasket and the O-ring seals. Use a new gasket and O-ring seals for installation.

  3. Remove locknuts (4). Remove the washers and spacers. Discard the locknuts and use new locknuts for installation.

  4. Remove exhaust manifold (5).

  5. Remove and discard studs (6). Use new studs for installation.

  6. Remove coupling (7) and discard the O-ring seals. Use new O-ring seals for installation.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install exhaust manifold (5) in the reverse order of removal.

    1. Apply Tooling (A) to the bore and O-ring seals for coupling (7).

    2. Tighten studs (6) to a torque of 35 ± 5 N·m (26 ± 4 lb ft).

    3. Apply Tooling (B) to locknuts (4).

    4. Using the tightening procedure in Illustration 5, tighten locknuts (4) to a torque of 38 ± 5 N·m (28 ± 4 lb ft).

    5. Apply Tooling (A) to the bores and O-ring seals for elbow (3).

    6. Apply Tooling (B) to studs (2) and tighten to a torque of 27 ± 4 N·m (20 ± 3 lb ft).
