Failure of Speed/Timing Sensors on C175-16 Generator Set Engines{1907, 1907} Caterpillar

Failure of Speed/Timing Sensors on C175-16 Generator Set Engines{1907, 1907}

Usage:

C175-16 WYB
Generator Set:
C175-16 (S/N: WYB1-UP)

Introduction

The problem that is identified below does not have a known permanent solution. Until a permanent solution is known, use the solution that is identified below.

Problem

C175-16 Generator Set Engines may generate a 190-8 Engine Speed Sensor - abnormal frequency, pulse width, or period diagnostic code.

Solution

Perform the steps in Troubleshooting, RENR9339, "Speed/Timing - Test" to determine the cause of the code.

If replacement of the 244-5544 Speed Sensor Gp corrects the problem, also replace the 250-3024 Sensor Harness As that connects to the sensor.

A "Send-It-Back" request will be created for the return of the parts.
