NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Remove bolts (2) from cover (1) for the harness assembly. Position cover (1) for the harness assembly out of the way.

Remove bolts (3). Remove bolt (5). Remove the end section of air inlet manifold (4) and the gaskets.

Remove hose assembly (6). Remove bolts (7) and disconnect tube assembly (8). Remove bolts (9) and disconnect tube assembly (10).

Attach a suitable lifting device onto regulator assembly (11). The weight of regulator assembly (11) is approximately 34 kg (75 lb). Remove bolts (12). Remove regulator assembly (11).

Note: Remove bolts (14), elbow (15), and the flange assembly after the engine oil pump has been removed.

Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device onto engine oil pump (17). The weight of engine oil pump (17) is approximately 67 kg (147 lb). Remove bolts (16). Lower engine oil pump (17) from the engine.

Personal injury can result from parts and/or covers under spring pressure.
Spring force will be released when covers are removed.

Be prepared to hold spring loaded covers as the bolts are loosened.

Remove bolts (18) and washers. Remove cover (19) from regulator assembly (11).

Remove spring (24), retainer (23), shims (22), and stem (21) for the maximum pressure relief valve from regulator assembly (11). Remove spring (28), retainer (27), shims (26), and stem (25) for the regulator valve from regulator assembly (11).

Install stem (25), shims (26), retainer (27), and spring (28) for the regulator valve into regulator assembly (11). Install stem (21), shims (22), retainer (23), and spring (24) for the maximum pressure relief valve into regulator assembly (11).

Improper assembly of parts that are spring loaded can cause bodily injury.
To prevent possible injury, follow the established assembly procedure and wear protective equipment.
Install cover (19) onto regulator assembly (11). Install the washers and bolts (18).

Install the flange assembly and elbow (15). Install bolts (14).
Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device onto engine oil pump (17). The weight of engine oil pump (17) is approximately 67 kg (147 lb). Position engine oil pump (17) onto the engine. Install bolts (16).
Install bolts (13).

Attach a suitable lifting device onto manifold (11). The weight of manifold (11) is approximately 34 kg (75 lb). Position manifold (11) on the engine oil pump. Install bolts (12).

Connect tube assembly (10). Install bolts (9). Connect tube assembly (8). Install bolts (7). Install hose assembly (6).
