Unit Initial Check

Usage:

UPSB 220 JFA
Locate the nameplate inside the front door of the unit. Verify the serial number and the model number of the equipment.

Documentation

Review all of the following documentation before beginning to work on the UPS:

  • Review the owners manual.

  • Review the original prints from the installation.

  • Review any additional manuals and prints for any optional equipment that has been installed.

Make a note of any missing documentation and inform the customer.

Inspecting the location of the UPS

Review the condition of the room and potential hazards before beginning to work on the UPS.

Verify and note the following conditions:

  • Verify that sufficient space is available to work safely on the UPS.

  • Measure the temperature of the room that the UPS is located in.

  • Measure the temperature of area that the batteries are located in.

  • Note the type of room that the UPS is located in.

  • Note the location of the UPS inside the room.

  • Note any other equipment in the room.

  • Use images to document the operating environment of the UPS.

Inspecting the Exterior of the UPS

Before starting any maintenance procedure on the UPS, confirm the following:

  • Confirm the location of the disconnects for the upstream branch.

  • Confirm that you have the appropriate personal protection equipment.

  • Confirm and follow all safety rules and guidelines that are being observed at the site of the UPS.

Before removing any panels, visually inspect the exterior of the cabinet for the following:

  • Verify that the area is safe for work.

  • Verify that the area is free of debris.

  • Inspect all panels for signs of damage.

  • Verify that the cabinet doors close and latch properly.

  • Verify that no foreign materials are stored on the UPS.
