New Parts Are Used for the Number One Planetary Carrier on CX31 On-Highway Transmissions {3160}

Usage:

CX31 B3X
On-Highway Transmission:
CX31 (S/N: B3X1-UP; EBW1-UP)

Description of Change: New parts are used when planetary carrier number one is being repaired.

Adaptable To: Use the parts that are listed in Table 1 when number one planetary carrier (1) is being repaired.

Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, KENR5091 for the correct procedure to install the new carrier assembly.

The new parts are effective with the following machines:

The new parts are adaptable to the following machines:

  • CX31 (S/N: B3X1-637; EBW1-246)

Rework Procedure for 275-5519 Carrier As

An alternative to installing the 357-7145 Carrier As is to modify the current 275-5519 Carrier As. The only feature change on the 357-7145 Carrier As is to make the pocket that contains the 257-8660 Thrust Bearing deeper.

In order to reuse the old 275-5519 Carrier As, machine the bearing pocket to the depth of 11 ± 0.25 mm (0.4331 ± 0.00984 inch). Refer to the callout (A) in Illustration 2. The new 350-8540 Wave Spring is also used.
