Improved Software Is Used for C280 Marine Propulsion Engines {1901, 1920}

Usage:

C280-6 LDL
Marine Engine:
C280-12 (S/N: TSJ1-UP)
C280-12 (S/N: RDW1-UP)
C280-16 (S/N: NKB1-UP; TDX1-UP)
C280-6 (S/N: SCB1-UP; LDL1-UP)
C280-8 (S/N: PKA1-UP; NDT1-UP)

Description of Change: The new software provides the following benefits:

  • Improves engine stability with complex drivelines

  • Reduces the possibility of hard start-up on engines with high parasitic loads during cranking

  • Provides a new programmable configuration parameter for the direction of engine rotation

Desired Engine Rotation Direction Configuration - This parameter must be programmed in order for the engine to run. This parameter must match the as-shipped crankshaft rotation. Counterclockwise is for standard rotation and clockwise is for reverse rotation.

Note: "Desired Engine Rotation" will not need to be programmed after the software is flashed into the existing Electronic Control Module (ECM). However, verification of the parameter in the configuration screen is recommended. The parameter will be "Not Configured" when the software is flashed into a new ECM. For a new ECM, the parameter must be programmed to match the as-shipped rotation in order for the engine to run.

Adaptable To: Effectivity is listed in Table 1.

The part numbers of the software for Tier 2 engines are listed in Table 2.

The part numbers of the software for Tier 1 engines are listed in Table 3.
