Hood - Remove and Install

Removal Procedure

------ WARNING! ------

The space between the body and the frame becomes a zero clearance area when the body is lowered. Failure to install the retaining cable can result in injury or death to personnel working in this area.


  1. Install the truck body retaining cables. Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cable (Truck Body Retaining)".

  2. Secure rear hood assembly (1) in the open position.

  3. Attach a suitable lifting device onto rear hood assembly (1). The weight of rear hood assembly (1) is approximately 76 kg (168 lb). Disconnect struts (2). Remove bolts (3). Remove rear hood panel (1).

  4. Secure front hood assembly (4) in the open position.

  5. Attach a suitable lifting device onto front hood assembly (4). The weight of front hood assembly (4) is approximately 75 kg (165 lb).

  6. Disconnect struts (5). Disconnect brace (6).

  7. Remove bolts (7). Remove front hood assembly (4).

  8. Remove panels (8).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install rear hood assembly (1), front hood assembly (4), and panels (8) in the reverse order.
